Sienna Fozzati piled up 21 kills, 15 digs and six aces as Stevenson beat Rancho San Juan in four sets, pushing the Pirates to 11-0 in the Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division.
The win leaves Stevenson three victories from completing the program's first-ever undefeated league season, according to Monterey Herald sports columnist John Devine.
Fozzati was far from alone. Brennecke Daley finished with 22 assists, 17 digs and two aces. Caroline Bufkin added eight kills and three aces. Ashley Dalhamer and Sloane Nguyen combined for 19 digs.
The four-set match was competitive on Rancho San Juan's side, too. Devine reported that Carla Aguilar led Rancho with 25 digs, eight kills and five aces, while Damaris Turner contributed 24 assists, 15 digs and three aces.
Stevenson entered the Monterey Herald's Top 10 volleyball rankings at No. 8 this week. The Herald noted the Pirates are three wins from pulling off the historic undefeated Mission Division season.
The ranking comes with a caveat. In an earlier set of rankings published Oct. 14, Devine wrote that Stevenson was winless against four Gabilan Division opponents in non-league play, a factor he said should keep the Pirates from being bumped up to the higher division next fall.
Nobody in the Mission Division has solved Stevenson this season. The Pirates swept Soledad earlier in October, a match in which Fozzati collected six aces, 13 kills and 19 service points while Brennecke Daley and Crete Rosenau combined for 30 assists and 14 digs, according to Devine. Stevenson also needed four sets to get past North County, a match where Gabi Tight recorded 19 digs.
King City, ranked No. 9 in the Herald's latest poll, sits in second place in the Mission Division. The King City Rustler reported that the Mustangs rattled off six straight wins after an earlier loss to Stevenson.
Stevenson has three Mission Division matches remaining to complete the undefeated run. Opponents and dates for those matches were not available at publication.
