Chef Jerry Regester is serving breakfast and lunch at The Grove at Point Pinos, a new restaurant at 79 Asilomar Blvd. in Pacific Grove next to the city's municipal golf course.

Regester, known for The Spotted Duck bistro on Lighthouse Avenue, and business partner Gail Grammatico won the restaurant contract from the Pacific Grove City Council, which owns the property. The space previously housed The Grill at Point Pinos, whose five-year lease ended Nov. 21, 2025. Former operator Tamie Aceves left to open La Crema Lovers Point, Edible Monterey Bay reported in October 2025.

The soft opening features breakfast, lunch and grab-and-go items, Edible Monterey Bay reported on Sept. 8. A full bar and expanded menu are still to come, though no timeline has been announced, according to Monterey County NOW.

Grab-and-go hours run 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Breakfast is served 8 to 11 a.m. Lunch runs 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The debut menu includes a signature burger with smoked cheddar on a milk bun, a ham-and-double-cheese panini with Fra' Mani rosemary ham on Ad Astra bread, chopped salads with pulled chicken and lumpia skins, and a classic wedge with buttermilk blue cheese and Baker's Bacon.

Entrees range from $13 to $23. Grab-and-go options include Acme coffee drinks ($4 to $7) and rotating sandwiches and breakfast burritos at $13.

The renovated space seats 100 on outdoor patios, 50 inside and another 50 in a private event room. Stone walls, high ceilings and views of the golf course and coastline fill the dining room.

Large-scale landscape photographs by Kirk Kennedy hang on the walls. A refurbished Santa Maria grill anchors the kitchen.

"When we get the grill going, all you hear golfers say is, 'Oh that smell!'" Regester told Edible Monterey Bay in a Sept. 8 interview.

Regester told Edible Monterey Bay he is considering special one-off events, including smoked brisket dinners, prime rib nights and tri-tip cookouts timed to golf tournaments. The patio is dog-friendly.
